But today, I will be talking about the remaining five of top 10 best suburbs of Charlotte, so stay tuned.

So, Ok here area the last cities that I will be taking about that make up my Top 10 best suburbs of Charlotte to live in 2022 to 2023. I just want to remind you that these are not ranked in particular order. For me, they are all the best places to live in Charlotte.
Tega Cay, SC
Tega Cay, a small suburb of Charlotte is located along Lake Wylie on the border of North Carolina and South Carolina with only 3.17 square miles in size and a population of 13,874 (thirteen thousand eight hundred seventy-four). It is in York County in South Carolina. Going to Uptown Charlotte is about a 35-minute drive via I-77.
Living in Tega Cay has a rural feel, but with the conveniences of urban living because it is close to Charlotte and Fort Mill. Residents enjoy swimming, boating, fishing and water sports on Lake Wylie. It has six miles of scenic walking trails, a 27-hole golf course, and 13 (thirteen) miles of waterfront.
There’s a lot of things to do and places to go in Tega Cay such as Windjammer Park, Nivens Creek Landing, a boat ramp, owned by Duke Power near Tega Cay, or play golf at Tega Cay Golf Club. Tega Cay is a neighboring town of Fort Mill so no wonder people living in Tega Cay go to places like Kingsley and nearby shopping centers.
Tega Cay has picked up popularity because it was featured on Niche.com as the #1 suburb of Charlotte with the best public schools.
The public schools in Tega Cay are highly rated. Tega Cay Elementary School, Gold Hill Middle School and Fort Mill High School are all located in Fort Mill, SC. There are also great private schools near Tega Cay such as
For the month of July the median price was $559,000 (five hundred fifty nine thousand dollars), the maximum price was $875,000 (eight hundred seventy five thousand dollars) and the minimum was $290,000 (two hundred ninety thousand dollars). Tega Cay has many waterfront homes along Lake Wylie.
Fort Mill, SC
Fort Mill is a fast-growing town in York County South Carolina along the border of North Carolina and South Carolina. It is a suburb of Charlotte with 4.63 square miles and a population of 27,263 (twenty seven thousand two hundred sixty three). It is about 36 minutes to get to Uptown Charlotte from Fort Mill.
The public schools in Fort Mill are highly rated like Gold Hill Elementary and Middle School, Fort Mill High School, Nation Ford High School and many others.
The famous shopping area in Fort Mill off I-77 is the Kingsley Town Center which is a mixed-use master-planned commercial center with restaurants, bars, retail stores, offices, apartments and hotels. Some hospital and medical facilities are currently building next to the shops. This place is always packed with people visiting known local and franchise restaurant and bars.
If you are looking for nice homes on the golf course in Fort Mill, check out these two neighborhoods; Springfield Golf Club and Firethorne Country Clubs. Baxter Village is a popular community in Fort Mill, a mixed-use development of residential and commercial real estate where residents walk to restaurants, bars and shops. Walkability is a big factor that makes Baxter Village a highly sought-after community in Fort Mill.
Real estate in Fort Mill is booming. The median price for the month of July was $611,750 (six hundred eleven thousand seven hundred fifty dollars), the highest home that sold was $1,650,000 (one million six hundred fifty thousand dollars) and the lowest was $240,000 (two hundred forty thousand dollars).
Let’s take you down to Union County. Let’s get your bearings. Union County is right here, slightly southeast of Charlotte. Weddington, a suburb of Charlotte in Union County with a current population of 13,925 (thirteen thousand nine hundred twenty five) has 15.91 square miles. It is above Marvin and Waxhaw and the closest city to Uptown Charlotte which is approximately 23 miles via I-485 and I-77.
The new Waverly Shopping Center is just a 5-minute drive from the boundary of Charlotte and Weddington and very close to other shopping centers in Charlotte such as Stonecrest, Ballantyne VIllage and Blakeney.
Waverly, a walkable mixed-use master planned commercial center has tons of fast-food restaurants, dining hot spots, bars, apartment community with the urban energy, hotels and offices. Everything you need is in Waverly Shopping Center.
So, where do people go to play and watch games? Weddington Optimist Park is owned and operated by Weddington Optimist Club and not the city of Weddington. It is a 52-acre park recreational sports fields for football, soccer, softball, basketball and lacrosse. It is a great place to bring the kids to play or watch their favorite games.
Weddington is known for having great public schools within Union Counnty Public School District; the Weddington Elementary, Weddington Middle and Weddington High School are excellent. Even though they are Weddington schools, they are located in the city on Matthews.
This is one thing that home buyers are confused. The mailing addresses of some homes in Weddington are in Matthews which is in Mecklenburg County. The confusion stemmed from having Weddington in the Matthews postal delivery area so some in Weddington homes are listed as Matthews, NC.
The homes for sale in Weddington are big with large lots. Let me show you what’s going on with Weddington real estate for the month of July 2022. The median price was $1,090,000 (one million ninety thousand dollars), the maximum price was $1,550,864 (one million five hundred fifty thousand eight hundred sixty four dollars) and the lowest price that sold was $580,000 (five hundred eighty thousand dollars).
If you look at the Union County map, Marvin is southwest of Weddington and on the border of North Carolina and South Carolina. Marvin which was once called Marvin Village was incorporated on July 1, 1994 and is one of the fastest growing communities in North Carolina and a suburb of Charlotte. With just 6,514 (sixty five hundred) in population, Marvin covers 6 square miles and was named by Yahoo! as the best town in North Carolina to live in for two consecutive years.
Marvin’s public schools are highly rated per US News. Marvin Elementary School as #10 Best in North Carolina Elementary School, and Marvin Ridge Middle School was #9 Best Middle School in North Carolina. According to GreatSchools.org Marvin Ridge High School is rated 10/10 and far above the State’s average in key measures and college and career preparedness.
Marvin is close to Charlotte’s premiere shopping centers such as Stone Crest, Ballantyne and Blakeney that is part of the booming South Charlotte area. There’s a wide array of fast-food restaurants, fine dining, boutique stores, big department stores, big box stores and tons of medical offices and facilities in these shopping centers.
If you want to play 18 holes of championship golf with beautiful views and natural setting check out Firethorne Country Club. It also has a junior Olympic pool and a three-story slide and a baby pool. Firethorne has 10 tennis courts, fitness center and a great place to host social events.
Marvin, which is a suburb of Charlotte on the southern part has many beautiful large homes on big lots. Marvin real estate is thriving. For the month of July 2022, the median price was $1,074,592, the highest that sold was $1,500,000 and the lowest price was $567,500
The last city in Union County that I will be talking about is Waxhaw, a suburb of Charlotte located south of Weddington and slightly southeast of Marvin in North Carolina. Waxhaw has a more rural atmosphere where you see some cows and horses roaming and grazing in the meadows inside the fenced properties. It is a small town, 20 miles outside of Metro Charlotte, NC. Waxhaw has had a lot of housing development in the past decade and a half due to Charlotte’s booming real estate market. There is so much land in Waxhaw that it is very common to see homes on larger home sites.
The highly rated public schools in Marvin, Weddington and Waxhaw are in Union County Public Schools.
There are a variety of places to shop and dine on Main Street in Downtown Waxhaw. Maxwell’s Tavern, a local watering hole to watch sports on TV, Waxhaw Creamery, Emmets, the American tapas-style restaurant and South Main Street BBQ to name a few. Waxhaw has small shopping center with supermarkets, drug stores, different fast food restaurants, and your favorite big box stores are just nerby. And if you feel like you want to go to some fine dining in Charlotte, Waverly Shopping Center is just a short 15-minute drive from Main Street in Waxhaw.
The perfect place to bring your family on a hot summer day is Cane Creek Park which is only a 16-minute drive from Downtown Waxhaw.
Many people from out-of-state move to Waxhaw because of the laid-back country style living and yet so close to urban conveniences. It's amazing that Waxhaw, a suburb of Charlotte has become one of the fastest growing cities in Union County when it comes to housing market.

The cities I’ve mentioned for part 1 and part 2 have many master-planned communities that have so many amenities like swimming pool, tennis courts, clubhouse, basketball courts, playground, walking trails and many other activities your family will enjoy. These communities are also close to everything for shopping, fast food restaurants, fine dining, schools and easy commute to work whether it’s in Uptown Charlotte or any nearby city.
