Imagery On Mountain Island in Mount Holly, NC

Scenic, inviting, peaceful…all words often used to describe Imagery, a 55+ community by Lennar Homes set on a peninsula of Mountain Island Lake, one of Charlotte’s 3 major lakes.  Developed on heavily wooded land, Lennar built Imagery to retain and capitalize on much of its natural beauty.  Nearly 4 miles of walking trails including soft trails meander along the water’s edge.  Numerous trees save areas now provide many wooded homesites, and of course, the lake is a backdrop to a number of water view and waterfront homes. Currently, there are several new construction waterfront and water view homes for sale in Imagery.

Besides being surrounded by a lake, visitors instantly sense some of the things separating Imagery from other 55+ communities.  Lots are larger than typical, providing a little elbow room from neighbors.  Lennar purchased the land from the Bechtler family, local philanthropists in the arts, for whom the Modern Museum of Art in Charlotte is named.  Not surprisingly, all the streets in the community are named after artists such as Van Gogh, Renoir, Picasso, Monet, Dali, Rubens, Chegall, and Botticelli. Wrought-iron artwork adorns the entrances to the community. 

Amenities in cabins?  Unlike other 55+ communities with a large, central clubhouse, Imagery has more of a campground feel, with meeting rooms, game room, ceramic and arts, sewing, fitness, and library housed in old wood cabins, carryovers from the Bechtlers that have been refurbished for current use.  The outdoor amenities include a heated pool with lap lanes and hot tub, pickleball and tennis courts, small and big dog parks as well as several waterside “pocket parks” from which to just breathe and take in the lake.  For kayakers and paddle boaters, “unofficial” lake access can be found at Monet Beach behind the pool area and a couple of the pocket parks, Sunflowers Point and Blue View Point.  Soon to come is a new community amenity for boating with slips and “official” access to the lake.

Imagery is nearing completion.  Lennar is in the final phase of construction, and all told will build 483 homes…not the largest 55+ community, nor the smallest.  With an on-staff Lifestyle Director managing the social calendar, get-togethers, and so on, residents can enjoy as much socializing and fun – or relaxation – as they want.
