Well, the land, formerly known as Little Italy, was owned for years by an influential Charlotte couple - Andreas and Regine Bechtler. The Bechtlers are known for their large influence on the city, most presently with their establishment of the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art in Uptown Charlotte. Their passion for art extends beyond this museum and reflects right back to Little Italy. Notice the Street names are the famous painters? Picasso, Van Gogh, Dali, Donatello, Monet, Renoir, etc....

There are over 3.62 miles of proposed hiking trails with a 5-ft wide soft surface pedestrian path starting from Sunflowers Point to Four Seasons Point and trails along the water starting from Sunflowers Point.
