Lake Norman 55+ and Active Adult Communities

Do you know that there are several 55 plus or active adult communities in Lake Norman? These communities in different cities and towns in Lake Norman are the best places to live in the suburbs of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Today, I will be talking about 55+ or active adult communities in the Lake Norman area. You are probably wondering…so where is Lake Norman? Lake Norman is not a city or town, rather an area North of Charlotte, North Carolina.  I have numerous videos about Lake Norman so you may want to watch them, too. 

Lake Norman which was created by Duke Power in 1963, has 520 miles of shoreline and over 33,000 acres of surface area. The Lake Norman area encompasses the towns of Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, Mooresville, Denver, Sherrills Ford, Terrell, Troutman, Statesville and Catawba. The closest city to Charlotte is Huntersville which is more or less a 20-minute drive.

In 55 plus or active adult communities homeowners never have to worry about mowing, landscaping, exterior-building maintenance, and driveway care because all these services are included in the HOA dues. With less time worrying about the hassles of exterior maintenance, homeowners have more time to relax and do things they enjoy.

HUNTERSVILLE:

There are three wonderful 55+ communities in Huntersville that were built by Epcon Communities; The Courtyards at Eastfield Farm, The Courtyards at Kinnamon Park and The Courtyards of Huntersville. Huntersville is a popular city in Lake Norman and a hot real estate market.

The Courtyards at Eastfield Farm

The Courtyards at Eastfield Farm features a total of 70 ranch-style, single-family homes with 3 floor plans ranging from 1,518 to 2,832 sq. ft, 2 to 3 bedrooms. The amenities include a clubhouse, fitness center, outdoor pool and patio. This community started in 2021 and finishing early this year, 2022. The Courtyards at Eastfield Farm is close to I-77, I-485, shopping, medical facilities, and is only minutes from Uptown Charlotte and a few minutes from Lake Norman. Its next door neighborhood is Skybrook, a golf community.

The Courtyards at Kinnamon Park

The Courtyards at Kinnamon Park began construction in 2016 with 94 single-story homes and some with a loft. The amenities are club house, fitness center, outdoor pool, recreation area, pickle ball and bocce ball courtsl, community garden and walking trails. The Courtyards at Kinnamon Park is a walkable community to Rosedale Shopping Center, Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center.  It is a few minutes away from I-77 and Lake Norman. The Courtyards of Huntersville

The Courtyards of Huntersville established in 2016 has 51 low-maintenance single-family homes, some with a loft and some a finished basement. The community is set in a beautiful, wooded environment across from Lake Norman and has a clubhouse, outdoor pool, fitness center, a scenic pond and walking trails. This community is close to Blythe Landing, a public park for launching boats. You can even walk if you want to work out. And yes, just minutes away from Birkdale Village, an outdoor mall in Huntersville.  This community offers resale only. CORNELIUS:

There are 4 nice 55+ neighborhoods in Cornelius; Bailey’s Glen, The Courtyards on Lake Norman, The Courtyards at Jetton, and Cornelius Woods.

Bailey’s Glen

If you are looking for more of resort-style neighborhood, you have to visit Bailey’s Glen. This amazing community offers residents a clubhouse, fitness center, outdoor pool, meeting room, arts & craft room, library, community garden, pocket parks, pickleball, horseshoe, tennis, & bocce ball courts, shuffleboard, outdoor pavilion, community garden and 2 Lifestyle Directors and much more. Bailey’s Glen is close to Cornelius, Davidson and Huntersville shopping centers, Lake Norman and several parks.  This community offers new and resale homes by South Creek Homes in 18 different floor plans. It has a planned total of almost 700 residences for single-family homes and over a hundred luxury condos which will be completed in a future phase. The Courtyards at Jetton

Epcon Communities opened The Courtyards at Jetton in 2014 with 25 single-family range in size from 1,519 to 2,769 square feet. This is a small community that offers residents a recreation area. It is very close to Jetton Park, Ramsey Creek, Lake Norman and down the street located along Jetton Road and West Catawba Avenue are shops, restaurants, drugstores and medical facilities. The Jetton Village Shoppes includes a Harris Teeter supermarket as well as banks and a variety of dining options.

The Courtyards on Lake Norman

Epcon Communities started construction of The Courtyards on Lake Norman in 2016. It has 67 homes with 3 floor plans, Palazzo, Portico, and Promenade. These homes range from 1,619 to 3,544 square feet of living space. They include two or three bedrooms, two or three bathrooms, and two-car garages.  The courtyards on Lake Norman is ideally located in the heart of Cornelius close to several parks including Ramsey Creek which is just a few minutes away.  You will find a variety of shops nearby, supermarkets, pharmacies, medical facilities and just 5 minutes to I-77.  This community offers resale. The last 55+ community in Cornelius is Cornelius Woods, condos and villas.  

Cornelius Woods

NC Homes LLC began construction on Cornelius Woods in 2019 and plans to have a total of 106  homes upon completion. There will be 10 villas and 96 condos ranging from 877 to 1,822 square feet and feature one to three bedrooms and one to two bathrooms.  There will be elevators in condos.  Cornelius Woods is close to restaurants, supermarkets, boutique shops, Downtown Cornelius,  drugstores and I-77.  There is a proposed Senior Center, dog park, grilling areas, pickle ball court, pond and golf cart paths.

DENVER

Trilogy Lake Norman

Trilogy Lake Norman in Denver is a resort-style community with amazing indoor and outdoor amenities and just minutes away from beautiful Lake Norman, shopping centers, Highway 16 that takes you all the way down to Uptown Charlotte and Charlotte Douglas International Airport.  The builder developer is Shea Homes and now acquired by Empire Communities.

This wonderful community has all the amenities anyone would ask for. It has indoor and outdoor pools, pickleball, tennis and bocce ball courts, amphitheater, fitness center, arts and craft room and to top it all, Trilogy Lake Norman has a 30,000 square foot clubhouse with an elegant grand living room, restaurant, bar, coffee shop, billiard pool, demonstration kitchen, wine room and grand ballroom.  Trilogy Lake Norman sits on approximately 604 acres of beautiful topography with a plan to have 1,100 to 1,200 homes when fully completed. Residents have access to Lake Norman Freedom Boat Club.

3 Cherry Way

The builder of 3 Cherry Way is Dellinger Investment Builders that began building in 2007 with 202 all-brick condos and patio homes in Denver and very close to Lake Norman. The floor plans range in size from 1,744 to 2,625 square feet. Residents enjoy the following amenities; club house, fitness center, outdoor pool, pickleball court, RV/boat storage, picnic and bbq area, billiards, card game and arts & craft room.  This 55+ community, 3 Cherry Way is close to Denver’s shopping area and down the road is Beatty's Park for launching boats.  This community offers resale only. Kinsley

Stanley Martin (Essex Homes) began construction of Kinsley in 2019 and plans to build 71 single-family homes total. The single-family homes come in five unique floor plans that range from 1,177 to 2,243 square feet. These models have two to four bedrooms, two to three bathrooms, and a two-car garage. There are no planned amenities for the Kinsley community. This community offers new homes and resale. Check the description below.

MOORESVILLE

Courtyards at Blume Point

Courtyards at Blume Point is a 55+ community built by Epcon Communities in Mooresville developed in 2017. There are 71 single-family homes ranging in size from 1,500 to over 2,900 square feet with two or three bedrooms.  This community has a clubhouse, fitness center, pool, patio and multi-purpose rooms. It is conveniently located and close to shopping, Lake Norman and three golf courses.  This community offers resale only.  

The Villages at Isle of Pines

Construction of The Villages at Isle of Pines in Mooresville began in 2007 by Bonanza Development with 26 single-family homes with large lots. Although this community has no amenities except for walking trails, residents enjoy the greenspaces, Lake Norman and golf courses. The sizes of homes in this community range size from 1,500 to over 3,000 square feet. It is close to several shops, restaurants, bars, pharmacies and I-77.  This community offers resale only. 

The Courtyards at Brawley Point

Here’s another Epcon Communities in Mooresville that opened in early 2014 with 3 floor plans that are between 1,667 and 2,808 square feet in size and have at least two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and an attached garage.  This low-maintenance community of just 30 homes enjoys a convenient location near Interstate 77 and easy access to great recreational opportunities at Lake Norman. Residents have access to the Brawley Point Community Pavilion with an outdoor fireplace, grill, and picnic tables. Johnson Manor

Benchmark Communities is the builder for Johnson Manor in Mooresville with 114 single-family homes in two floor plans ranging in size from 1,667 to 2,808 square feet, from 2 bedrooms to 4 bedrooms. It has a clubhouse, fitness center, dog park, pond, walking trails and community garden.  They started building in Mooresville in 2015.  Yard maintenance is included in the HOA fee. It is close to Downtown Mooresville also known as "Race City USA".

Lakewalk

Lakewalk is a waterfront community in Mooresville with a clubhouse, outdoor, playground, dog park, bocce ball, walking trails, pickleball courts, gazebo and paddleboat launch. One section is built for active adults (age-restricted) that consists of 121 one-story and one and a half single-family homes from 1,673 to over 2,600 square feet. This section called LakeWalk Freedom homes by DR Horton started construction in 2017 includes lawn maintenance. This wonderful community is located near shopping centers, entertainment, Lake Norman, several dining places and also minutes away from I-77.  The other section is for the traditional homes for all ages. The 55+ community and the traditional community share the amenities at Lakewalk in Mooresville. From time to time, resale homes are up for sale at LakeWalk, so check back. 

The Villages at Oak Tree

The Villages at Oak Tree is a 55+ community situated in Mooresville by Brawley School Road that is close to shopping, dining and I-77. This unique community opened between 1998 and 2004 by Bonanza Development with 173 low-maintenance residences that include attached townhomes and single-family homes. Sizes of homes vary from 1,100 to over 1,900 square feet of living area with two to three bedrooms and an attached garage. The Villages at Oak Tree has a clubhouse, fitness room, walking trails, RV/boat storage, pond and walking trails.  Resale only.  

Meadows at Coddle Creek

This is an active lifestyle community in Mooresville, North Carolina. The overall community is designed by D.R. Horton and their Freedom Homes section began construction of the thoughtfully designed active adult homes in 2018. There are nine unique home models from one-story to one and a half-story ranging in size from 1,796 to 2,952 square feet of living space, 2 to 4 bedrooms and an attached garage. The amenities are clubhouse, outdoor pool, bocce ball court, and walking trails. Meadows at Coddle Creek is located less than ten minutes away from Downtown Mooresville, supermarkets, restaurants and retails shops.
